AMON AMARTH To Perform First Four Albums In Their Entirety At 'Bloodshed Over Bochum'

Swedish Viking metallers AMON AMARTH will play four shows at Zeche in Bochum, Germany in late December under the banner "Bloodshed Over Bochum". The band will play one of the first four albums in its entirety each night along with a "best-of" mix from "Fate Of Norns" (2004), "With Oden On Our Side" (2006) and the upcoming album.

The details are as follows:

Dec. 28 - "Once Sent From The Golden Hall" (1998)
Dec. 29 - "The Avenger" (1999)
Dec. 30 - "The Crusher" (2001)
Dec. 31 - "Versus The World" (2002)

The shows will also include:

* Meet-and-greet with the band
* Special merchandise sold at each show
* New Year's Eve Party on December 31

Commented the band, "We've had plans of doing a smaller club show tour for quite some time now where we'd mainly play older songs, but that has been very hard to pull off. So when this idea was brought to us of re-visiting the four first full-length albums at Bochum in Germany, we were all up for it. This will be a once-in-a-lifetime chance for us to play and our fans to experience all the old songs that we don't have room for in the setlist anymore, but are still too good to not play! Of course, we'll also play songs from the new upcoming album, as well as 'With Oden On Our Side' and 'Fate Of Norns'. Since these shows will be unique we thought we might as well record the shows too!

"We're thrilled over this event and look forward to the shows. It will be some hard work and preparation playing around 50-60 different songs in four days. Some songs we haven't played for a very, very long time and some we've never played live at all. But challenges are something that encourages us!"

As previously reported, AMON AMARTH will embark on a North American headlining tour in October. Support on the trek will come from the Tampa melodic trash outfit THE ABSENCE.

AMON AMARTH entered Fascination Street Studio in rebro, Sweden on May 1 to begin recording their seventh full-length album for a late 2008 release via Metal Blade Records. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Guardians of Asgaard", "Live for the Kill" and "Tattered Banners and Bloody Flags".

The sixth part of the band's studio video diary featuring the band packing up and heading home for two weeks during the mixing process can be viewed below.

To make the wait a bit more entertaining, Metal Blade has launched an exclusive web site with lots of features. The site will be updated with more information about AMON AMARTH's forthcoming CD, starting off with an exclusive AMON AMARTH comic strip attack that is brought to you not only by this exclusive web site, but also by several print magazines all over Europe.
