According to NaplesNews.com, AC/DC bassist Cliff Williams recently bought a waterfront estate (photo) in Fort Myers, Florida.
Lee County property records show Williams recently purchased Al Hoffman's seven-bedroom mansion in Gulf Harbour Yacht & Country Club.
He paid $5.1 million for the seven-bedroom mansion in Gulf Harbour Yacht & Country Club, according to Lee County land records.
Hoffman — the founder and former chairman of Bonita Springs-based homebuilder WCI Communities Inc. — planned to auction off the home, but marketing for the auction generated so much interest that he decided to cancel it and negotiate a private sale.
The total sale was for $6.2 million, with furniture included, said Daniel DeCaro, who was hired as the auctioneer.
Williams and his wife, Georganne, have another home in Southwest Florida, DeCaro said. "It's my understanding they put it on the market," he said.
Lee County property records show they own another five-bedroom, five-bathroom home in Gulf Harbour, which spans a total of 8,407 square feet. They purchased it for $700,000 in 2001.
The couple "just loved the house" that Al Hoffman had custom built, DeCaro said.
