SIX FEET UNDER Working On New Music With CHIMAIRA's ROB ARNOLD, Says Former Bassist

Bassist Terry Butler (OBITUARY, SIX FEET UNDER, DEATH, MASSACRE) was interviewed on the February 7, 2011 edition of the "Psycho Realms" radio show on the Tampa, Florida radio station WMNF 88.5 FM. You can now watch video footage of his appearance on the program in three parts below.

Regarding his decision to leave SIX FEET UNDER and join OBITUARY as a permanent member, Butler said, "Yeah, there's been some recent events that have occurred, and Greg [Gall, drums] and I have departed SIX FEET UNDER. I've been helping OBITUARY for about a year now. So that aspect of it, it was an easy transition for me. I told the guys, 'I would love to be a permanent member,' and they were, like, 'We would love to have you.' So I'm a new member of OBITUARY.

"Departing SIX FEET UNDER was a tough thing. For 16 years, releasing some awesome records, going all over the world, meeting a lot of people, playing in front of a lot of crowds, it was great, but there was just something in the back of my mind that was, like, 'You're not happy with what's going on, so you might as well do something about it.' And the OBITUARY opportunity was such great timing.

"I'm not gonna sit here and trash anyone or badmouth anybody — I'm not about that; anybody that knows me knows that I'm the gentle giant, so to speak. Those kind of politics can stay behind the scenes.

"I just want to thank all the fans of SIX FEET UNDER that were there, that saw the shows and that I talked to and everything, but I'm just moving on.

"Good luck to all parties in what happens.

"SIX FEET UNDER is moving on and they're gonna be a five-piece. I've heard through the grapevine that they're working with [guitarist] Rob [Arnold] from [Cleveland, Ohio metallers] CHIMAIRA — he's their new writing partner — and Kevin Talley [DAATH, MISERY INDEX, CHIMAIRA] is gonna be playing drums. I'm not sure how much it's gonna sound like traditional SIX FEET, but I'm going on and changing, so maybe SIX FEET UNDER is gonna go on and change."

SIX FEET UNDER frontman Chris Barnes recently promised that the band's new lineup would be "a death metal force to be dealt with," with "riffs that will rip your face off [and] vocals ala 1993-1995."

SIX FEET UNDER's "Wake The Night! Live In Germany" DVD was released on January 31 in Europe (three days earlier in Germany) and February 1 in North America via Metal Blade Records. The set consists footage of the band's August 8, 2009 performance at the Party.San Open Air festival in Bad Berka, Germany. The gig was filmed by Roax Films with nine cameras and recorded in 5.1 Surround Sound, picture size 16:9 — best entertainment guaranteed!
