SHINEDOWN's ZACH MYERS: 'I'm In One Of My Favorite Rock Bands Of All Time'

SHINEDOWN guitarist Zach Myers says that he has no interest in forming a side project that plays a similar style of music to that of his main band. "For me, man, I see a lot of side projects, and I'm not downing anybody who does a side project — I'm never in someone's situation — but I honestly can say that I would never try to get a rock side project off the ground," Zach told Andy Hall of the Lazer 103.3 radio station (hear audio below). "Because I'm in a rock band, and I get everything I need from that rock band.

"With SHINEDOWN, we're all equal parts — we're all 25, 25, 25, 25," he continued. "So if I'm gonna [voice] my opinion and somebody doesn't see it my way, then I'll move on. But a lot of the times, we're very open to each other's opinions.

"I would never just start a rock band right now, 'cause everything I get from the rock world, I get from SHINEDOWN," he explained. "I'm in one of my favorite rock bands of all time. So a) that's a blessing, and b) I don't need to get my rocks off anywhere else in the rock world."

SHINEDOWN recently scored its 14th No. 1 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs airplay chart, drawing one nearer to the record for the most No. 1s in the survey's history. The only act with more Mainstream Rock Songs No. 1 is THREE DAYS GRACE, with 15.

SHINEDOWN's latest album, "Attention Attention", came out last year. The disc debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 album chart back in May 2018.

Later this month, SHINEDOWN will launch the fall leg of the "Attention Attention" North American tour with support from PAPA ROACH, ASKING ALEXANDRIA and SAVAGE AFTER MIDNIGHT.
