According to The New Zealand Herald, a "person of interest" in the brutal murder of the lead singer of one of New Zealand's longest-running death metal bands, BACKYARD BURIAL, died a few weeks after the killing.
Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Thornton told the Stuff web site the man was hit by a train on March 5. His death was not considered suspicious and was referred to the coroner.
The man was also involved in the metal scene in Wellington, he said.
He did not refer to the man as a suspect but said he was a "person of interest" in the case.
BACKYARD BURIAL frontman Matthew John Hall, 35, who went by the stage name "Blaps Warmonger", was found dead with multiple stab wounds by his roommate at his Wellington apartment on February 15.
BACKYARD BURIAL released its debut album, titled "Symptoms Of Psychopathology", in 1999.
