British grindcore pioneers NAPALM DEATH will release a special 2CD, 2LP and digital-download compilation titled "Coded Smears And More Uncommon Slurs" in March 2018 via Century Media Records. This special collection will include a total of 31 songs with a playing time of over 90 minutes, compiling rarities and exclusive earworms spanning 2004-2016 from the whirling gene pool of noise that is NAPALM DEATH. The release's cover artwork, created by longtime visual partner Frode Sylthe, can be seen below.
NAPALM DEATH frontman Mark "Barney" Greenway told Underground's Voice about "Coded Smears And More Uncommon Slurs" (see video below): "I'm always reluctant with compilation albums, because I don't wanna give people stuff they've already got, 'cause that's like a rip-off, really. But, actually, all the tracks that are on there were special tracks. Okay, some of them were on [other] releases, but some of them you would never find anywhere… unless you bought… For example, there's a track on there by a band called SACRILEGE, which only came out on a compilation by… actually, Roger [Miret] from AGNOSTIC FRONT; it was his thing. So it's nowhere else, that track. So there is a couple of things on there that are absolutely very, very hard to find — unless, of course, you look on YouTube, in which case you can find them. Basically, it's a compilation of extra stuff from [2005's] 'The Code Is Red [...Long Live The Code]' onwards — basically, the Century Media period, 'cause it's a Century Media release. I think there's enough in there for people to be happy with, in terms of fresh stuff."
Greenway recently told Metal Wani that guitarist Mitch Harris, who has been taking a leave of absence from NAPALM DEATH since late 2014 to focus on his family life, will "most likely" play on the group's next album.
Harris took an indefinite break in the fall of 2014 to tend to a family situation and Wikipedia initially wrongly scrubbed him from the band roster. He has since been temporarily replaced by John Cooke (CORRUPT MORAL ALTAR).
NAPALM DEATH's latest album, "Apex Predator - Easy Meat", was released in January 2015 via Century Media Records.
